From July 8th to 12th, our lab was hosting three enthusiastic high school students for a unique summer camp experience. The theme of the week was "Rat-ical Art: Let's Create Masterpieces of Neurons and Antibodies," and it was a fantastic journey into the world of neuroscience and art.
Throughout the week, the students delved into the fascinating principles of immunohistochemistry, Nissl staining, and light microscopy handling. These techniques are essential for visualizing the intricate structures of neurons and antibodies, and our young scientists quickly grasped their importance and applications.
Each day was filled with hands-on activities and engaging lessons. The students learned how to prepare and stain tissue samples, operate light microscopes, and analyze their findings. The highlight of the camp was the final day, when the students presented their work in a 10-minute presentation. We hope it has inspired them to continue their journey in the field of science.
Thank you to everyone who made this camp possible, and we look forward to hosting more aspiring scientists in the future!
